Cake walk
Susan/Circle:
It is the season of mists and mellow reminiscences.
Mike:
This is a great time for reflection... So what was your favorite moment of the 2013 season so far?
Susan/Circle:
The moment when they fired Valentine.
Mike:
Heh. OK. So how about during the season itself?
Susan/Circle:
The morning I woke up so happy when I realized that just moments before I was only having a nightmare in which Bobby Valentine was still the managah of the Red Sox.
Mike:
You know you're going to have to move on, right?
Susan/Circle:
I have. Absolutely. That is my point. Everything about the season has been wonderful since it stahted.
Susan/Circle:
That the Red Sox also happen to have clenched a playoff birth and have the best record in the majahs is pure icing on the cake of ambrosia.
Mike:
Let us eat cake.
Susan/Circle:
Exactly.
Clenched a birth?? LOL,h.b.

And the sparkles on that cake? That would be the 0.01% chance either the O's or the mfy's make the playoffs.

My gourd remains swollen ;D

The Yankees get a cake, too.

It would have been fun to make the MFYs suffer, sweeping them in the divisional round, but their not being there at all? Priceless.
And they are back at the scene of their epic sweep of the Pet Rocks back in '07.
Oh, shit. McArthur Park (Bob's posting above) is running in my head now. That sort of thing was normal hazing five decades ago...

"Clenched a birth" OMG. That is funny. Should I fix it?
Posted by: h.b. | 2013.09.24 at 10:02 AM
I totally agree with the sentiment in this strip. Just not having Veet running the show was reason enough for rejoicing. All the good play on the field is just gravy. And the turnaround of the Lacken? I'm not sure I can even process that one.

NO!! It's a classic,h.b.
Posted by: Harwich Rich | 2013.09.24 at 10:21 AM
...I did reach for my red pencil, though.
Posted by: Harwich Rich | 2013.09.24 at 10:24 AM
It's been laughable listening to commentators discussing the "worst to first" and falling all over themselves NOT mentioning VEET. Honor among thieves is alive and well in the broadcast booth.

The Red Sox here in Denver for 2? Keep the icing coming.

Fuckin' HELL YEAH to every word of this strip. Somehow I feel like the bourbon-soaked bus of last season was actually Dr. Robert's Beyond Bus from "Across the Universe" and we've landed at a strange and wonderful circus indeed. "Man you been a naughty boy. You let your face grow long/ I am the eggman, they are the eggmen/I am the walrus, goo goo goo joo..." Bring on the post-season, Dr. Kite.

Good to see you brought a little bit of "Old Blighty" back with you,Semolina Pilchard. ;O

Has anyone else read the Guardian's article from two days ago? http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2013/sep/22/boston-red-sox-al-east-playoffs

Touch even one figurative hair on this strip, h.b., and I'll stop lurking on this site forever.
Well, not really, but you get the point. That was the funniest unintentional (or perhaps intentional?) Typo I've seen in a long time.

I have to think that Farrell has 'wrapped' up Manager of the Year.
Posted by: yazbread | 2013.09.24 at 11:21 AM
Ugh! Why'd chya change it? I mean, I know I, like flunked lit three times an' stuff, but hey ya can't mess with a line like that. It's bad enough they censor old TV shows on certain (TNT, TBS, and Nick at night) networks. For now I'll give TBS a pass, they're using Don Orsillo for play by play on the National League series. They ought to put him on the Sox games, but we can't have everything.

I thought he'd never leave. I think he is up to something, god (if there IS one) alone knows.

Dr. Kite's worst holiday? Fuckin' Valentine's Day! We want 100! We want 100! We want 100!
