Redrum Sox
Mike:
You know of all the good things that we've watched unfold this season, one of the most surprising and enjoyable has been the resurgence of David Ortiz.
Doug:
Seriously, and as much as I love seeing him go yahd, there's something so incredibly satisfying in watching him scattah hits around the field.
Mike:
You know the Sox 1-5 hittah are on a pace for something historical, right?
Doug:
Yep, Murderers' Row, the Boston Reboot.
Mike:
Yeah, and we ain't talking Casey Anthony and Amanda Knox one offs here, we're talking Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy serial intensity.
Al:
Hey, now, isn't this bordering on, you know, political incorrectness?
Doug:
Depends... Do you believe in high speed rail? Sustainable agriculture? Apples in Happy Meals? Income Redistribution?
Doug:
If so, then you're fine.
Al:
"Now batting for the Left, the dictator, Joseph Stalin-alin-alin-alin."
Awesome h.b.
At least the trains ran on time...

And if Crawford can get it going, we can add John "DC Sniper" Mohammed to the lineup. Or is that not PC either?

It's fantastic to see Papi doing so well, when folks were starting to write him off at the beginning of last year. He's still my favorite player (Pedroia a close second) if, in fact, a grown man can have a boyhood-type affection for a particular player. Even when the Sox lose, if Papi had a good night, the pain of losing is somewhat lessened. With 9 RBIs in the last 2 games, he's back on pace for another 30+ HR, 100+ RBI year, which would be his 7th such season. Not bad.
But the offense right now is just rediculous, with Ells, Pedey, Gonzalez, Youk. And Pedroia - talk about a lazer show. Seldom have I ever seen a player so hot for so long as he's been in the last few weeks. Almost every night, watching this offense is about as special as watching Pedro pitch circa 1999-2002. Just amazing.
And fun.

and thanks for those links, h.b. Very interesting statistical proof of just how special this offense is.

Lackey -- the only pitcher who could make me wish for more Daisuke.

Completely off topic, but Haynesworth to the Patriots??!? WTF?
Posted by: Rob in CT | 2011.07.28 at 11:37 AM
Haynesworth for a 2013 5th rounder. Pretty low risk move at least.

Please, someone go here and spit their drink on their desk like I did before an astute editor comes in and fixes it!

You know what I like most about Papi? He isn't a meeting.
Posted by: Bob | 2011.07.28 at 12:59 PM
I will man up and admit I was one of those calling for Papi to retire with grace after the first month or so last year, and also cop to being wrong. One of the more amazing resurgences I've ever witnessed.
.
Kudos to Theo for understanding just how incredible a player A-Gon is and chasing him tirelessly. I've been watching Texeiria basically fall apart - he's hitting .243, his fielding is basically league average (dWaR of .1) instead of gold glove, and more than half his homer have been at the Joke Stadium and a fair chunk wouldn't have gone out elsewhere. Enjoy him and your other aging underproducing stars for years to come, Yankee fans.

They misspelled Fokudome's name as Fukudome.
I thought it was funny. Apparently, crickets. :(

I kid you not.
Like to find one of those on the street. Be tough to make change for though.

Just saw that myself, Bob. So sad.

Doh...I should always refresh before posting shit. Didn't mean to "dance" on the Irabu news. Geez.

Ochocinco added to the Haynesworth project. Sir Bill must be a modern day miracle worker.
