Rough transition into offseason mode

Detached voice of H.B. from a Green Line trolley:
OK, some good news and bad news this morning...

H.B.
First the bad news:

Your creepy author forgot to set the alarm on his hyperbaric chamber this morning and oxygenated right through his normal strip writing time.

H.B.
But here's the good news:

Your creepy author feels as strong and healthy as J.D. Drew.

Comments

Is it just me, or does that train look like it is pulling out of Cressington station?

As strong and healthy as J.D.? That means H.B. has writer's wrist and will miss 6-8 weeks.

Which one of these was Theo's worst signing?

JD Drew
Edgar Reneria
JD Drew
Dice-K
JD Drew
Eric Gagne
JD Drew, or
JD Drew

WRONG! The answer is Eric Gagne!

Go Bruins.

Jason O. from yesterday evening: "SDU fucking rules for recognizing Dame Joan Sutherland. Even though Birgit Nilsson and Corelli were my fave Met opera duo from that period. Do you understand? SDU Rules."

Birgit Nilsson? I didn't even know she could sing.

Oh, wait.

(And Gagne was by far the worst signing of the lot.)

Another reason to hate on the Yankee's captain.

Another reason why the Gagne trade sucked: Poutine never made it to the concession stands :(

(and did JD not go on the DL this year for real? WTF)

JD Drew didn't go on the DL this year. He reliably hit 0.250 (and I mean that PER GAME...he would get 1 hit and 3 outs per game!).

For folks who only know Minka Kelly as Jeter's piece, and accordingly think she is a distasteful (though hot) skank, check out Friday Night Lights season 1. It is the best single season of television EVAH. No season of The Wire, Battlestar Galactica, Arrested Development, et al. are as well conceived and executed.

agreed that Gagne gets some top billing but can anyone say WiMP??

da kine - you are correct. That show is incredible. Connie Britton is insanely hot for a woman in her 40s.

Let's not sell Julio Lugo short; he earned his spot on the worst signing list too!

But by far its JD; I still want Theo to answer Bob Ryan's question.

Gagne wasn't a signing; just a bad trade; and at least he was gone in 3 months.

Effin JD will be here for another year; weakly grounding out to second, calmly killing rallies, but playing good defense!
And we all know how important pitching and defense are, seeing how RBI's are over rated (yet aren't that what pithcing and defense prevent?)

aren't they, not "that"

While I agree that Gagne was a disaster, I don't think it was unrealistic for Theo to think that he would produce and we only signed him for the rest of the year, I believe. Drew was signed for 5 years at $14 mil per and, based on his track record of performance and injuries, that just seems to be a rather absurb amount of money, imo.

Nancy is off my list because of that grand slam. I'll choose Matsuzaka by reason of that $51M payment made upfront to the parent club. Drew seems cheap in comparison.

Matt Clement, anyone? Hell, how about John Lackthereof?

Yeah, I'm with BWF. I don't think we can judge Theo's worst move when Lackey's $82.5M, 5-year deal is only 20% of the way through yet. He stunk up the joint in the first half of the season, but seemed to be pulling out of his nose dive in the second half. If we get more like his last 100 innings this season next year, he'll pass JD Drew on the "worst Theo moves ever" list.

What about the Freddy Sanchez deal? Of course, that's not so much about who we got or have to pay, but who we got rid of.

And now for something completely different: Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly:
