Locked up

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, what could be one of the all-time great stahting rotations in baseball history is signed and locked through 2014!

"With more kids coming in the pipeline."

And the result, as Josh Beckett put it so well is "an organization that’s going to put a competitive team out there every year. That can’t be underestimated."

Do the youth of today realize how lucky they are to be coming of age in this epoch?

I think it's time for a new batch of nursery ryhmes to staht spreading the news cribside...

Lester, Lackey, Beckett, and Buch / Opponents say, 'What the fuck?' / A three game series or four, / This rotation's fucking hardcore / Lester, Lackey, Beckett, and Buch

Lester, Lackey, Beckett, and Buch / Can you believe our lucky luck? / Pencil in Matzusaka at five / Oops, did I just ruin your high? / Lester, Lackey, Beckett, and Buch

One, two,
Buckholtz in a groove;
Three, four,
Close the door;
Five, six,
No more hits;
Seven, eight,
Lay the goose eggs straight;
Nine, ten,
A good, deep pen;
Eleven, twelve,
Dig in and get felled;
Thirteen, fourteen,
A-Fraud's mourning;
Fifteen, sixteen,
Love this ballteam;
Seventeen, eighteen,
Steinbrenner's hating;
Nineteen, twenty,
This rotation is money.

Larry Lucchino,
John Henry and Theo,
Planning a team based on D;
They locked up Josh Beckett,
Told the AL to suck it,
And said 'What a rotation have we!'

I knew I could count on Bob to take the nursery rhyme theme and run with it. Nice.

Hat tip to Kaz, too.

Little Boy A-Rod
Go blow Jeter's horn.
"The Yankees are done",
Suzy Waldman will mourn.

Where is the pitching?
Who plans to go deep?
It's only April,
but their bullpen's asleep.

Hold everything folks, there's a flag on the play. Panel #5 uses the Sinatrian phrase "Staht spreading the news..."

sorry, not feeling creative this AM, so no rhymes from me. Just gotta say I was impressed with Beckett's presser- the bits and pieces I caught on EEI anyway. Very eloquently summed up why, at least for some, it's not always just a cash grab. His stock rose 100% in my book

Kaz, those were classics.

Roses are Red,
Violets are Blue,
A-Rod's got a nose like a B-52

Josh and the Johns went up the hill
to pitch some innings of zeroes
The Yankees fell down and broke their 2009 crown
The new Big Three all became local heroes

Fuckety fuck fuck fuck.
Our pitching! Holy fuck.
I would just like to say
To every Yankee and Ray
Poor chaps, you're shit outta luck!

Don't wanna be the harbinger of doom/Yet the rest of the season doth loom/This lot's not yet tested/Not gonna get bested?/Let's see if we're singing revelry 'round June.

Is it just me (seems like it), that a 9-7 victory is not the kind of victory one expects from a kick ass rotation? Just sayin. I mean any win is a good one I I was thinnking more 3-2.

Nursery haiku
No champions rings in Spring
Josh sucked Sunday.

Winningest pitcher in ALL of major league baseball through the All-Star break last year? Timmy Wake. Same wins as Dice-K and Buch combined in 20009. Lower last ERA than Buch over the last 3 years.

Theo, et. al, are writing him off as a 4th or 5th starter far more quickly than his stats warrant - even as an oft-injured, gopher-ballin', inconsistent aging wonder. Of course he's not the pitcher of the future...but 2009 was pretty good, and not that far off his career average.

I'm just sayin' he has earned a spot in at least the last verse.

I'm just sayin.
