Easing into March
Mike:
Well, that it's then. Curling is done. Now what are we supposed to do?
Bill:
As crazy as it sounds, somehow I think we'll get along just fine.
Mike:
See those plans for the "Florida Fenway" new spring training facility? Saaa-weet.
Bill:
"The field dimensions would be the same as Fenway Pahk down to having the bullpens in right field."
Mike:
Funny how fah "a compromise between Man's Euclidian determinations and Nature's beguiling irregularities"* can take you.
Bill:
That's what she said.
For those of you who still need a curling fix, just head on up to Halifax, NS.

And it looks like the bullpens will be on the field in right. Should be fun watching everyone scramble around out there.
BTW, why the hell is Michael Kay doing baseball analysis on ESPN? His brilliant insights into the Red Sox this morning: they'll have great pitching, but will have to score runs to win games.
That's the kind of inside knowledge you only get from Yankee employees.

In physics, we say the angle of the dangle is reversely proportional to the heat of the meat.

Is Michael Kay irregular??

BTW, why the hell is Michael Kay doing baseball analysis on ESPN?
Because Steve Phillips had to toss his career away to mess around with nasty-looking interns.

Fenway in Florida? Heck, we already have a Fenway replica down in South Carolina:
Fluor Field, home of the Greenville Drive

These "beguiling irregularities" are becoming moah regulah every day.

Yeah, even my alma mater in Los Angeles has something that might look a little fanmilar to Sox fans (except for the color):

Here's a better shot of it. Weird how the foul pole doesn't extend above the wall. And the dimensions are all wrong (befitting a Jesuit university).

Fluor field looks eerily similar to Durham Bulls Athletic Park (we have a Blue Monster, naturally).
And can anyone tell me who Che-Hsuan Lin is? He's our starting CF on Wednesday vs Northeastern. I'm hoping he makes it to the bigs to see the confusion and stuttering his name causes with dimwitted sports announcers.

We won the hockey on goal differential.

@Go Sox. Go Heels. Dook sucks. Yankees suck. - I hope he makes it for the influx of Viva Che t-shirts that will flood Fenway.

Are you, or have you ever been, a member of the Viva Che fan club?

Che Guevara was a mass murderer, see La Cabana prison. But hey, you've got to break a few eggs for the perfect international Marxist/Leninist Western omelette, right? Let's see: China, USSR, Cambodia and Vietnam. Can't be more than 80 million people (give or take: what's 5-10 million here or there?) killed in the 20th c. Certainly worth making society more "equal," in my view.
People who wear Che t-shirts shouldn't be monitored for their political views, they should be monitored for stupidity.

all t-shirts are equal, but some are more equal than others.

Just a suggestion for the Che crowd.
Damn, we haven't updated that mofo in a while.

The final curling standings, with USA in the cellar, gave me flashbacks to the Red Sox of my youth (late-50's to mid-60's).

sdu -- is that you running up the steps of the Sydney Opera House? Can't tell for sure -- all you Aussies look alike to me.

Curling fix? No need to go to a foreign country. Right here in NW Connecticut. 20 minutes away for me.

And I agree with Jason O. about Che.

Last year I saw a kid working on a multi-million dollar yacht sporting a Che shirt. The irony was not lost on me.
Posted by: Lazlo Freem | 2010.03.01 at 09:25 PM
To be fair, Lazlo, he wanted *everyone* to have a multi-million dollar yacht.
