Funny how we're not even tired today

Well, *that* was worth staying up for.

Youkilis, Ellsbury, Bay, and, drumroll please … Jon Motherfucking Lestah.

I get the chills just saying the name.

Are you kidding me? My immune system gets 20% strongah by just saying his name.

He dominated the Angels. He pwned the Angels. He put the Angels on the head of a pin and made them dance chasing his cuttah.

The Angels are mere run of the mill angels while Jon Lestah is a mofo archangel.

So let me get my head around this. We have the lefthanded ace in Game One and the righhanded ace in Game 3?

Seriously. Talk about your Scylla and Charybdis.

No kidding. Scylla and Charybdis and between them blows the divine wind, Matsuzaka.

Game on, Orange County, Game on.

Palin - not ready

Red Sox - ready

Run,Vlad,run :)

Not tired AT ALL!

Funny how that works.

Nice collective reverse gooch yesterday, boys, but too little too late. The harp-pluckers are sure to go all avenging on our asses now and win three in a row.

Helluva game. Lester is developing into a beast among men. His aura creates invulnerability to cancer while spreading bad mojo to opponents. Bay...well he's one big and great thing Canada managed to produce. Huzzah Canucks.

Oh and Doug's font change for the win h.b.

I only made it through 3 innings. I dreamed that the Red Sox won 5-4 in 12 innings on a Jason bay solo HR in the top of the 12th. I had the win and the Bay HR part right...

Oh, ParketStPete using my patented double reverse gooch.

That can be your best friend or your worst foe, depending on the wording.

I'll have to more carefully analyze the sentence structure and verbage.

Nice win last night. But I actually am pretty tired. Sweet, sweet Jameson knocked on my door, and I answered.

Oh, BTW, while I have tix for both Home Game 1 and Home Game 2, I can't make Home Game 1 Sunday (meeting the fiancee's parents for the first time; oh joy).

If anybody wants them (2 seats in Outfield Grandstand Section 5), email me or just stick a comment up here. We can talk terms (playoff tix I can't just give away unfortunately).

Made it through the first 3.
Went to bed.
Awoke at 4 am.
Sox win 4-1, says the innertubes.

Whenever Jacoby Ellsbury is on base, an Angel cries.

Angels have extra time to dwell on their fate.

Meanwhile, in the interregnum, Ms. "I can see Putin's head from my kitchen window" will be on display.

Fear not, Capital C Christians,

"Mrs Palin is being trained for her debate by Brett O'Donnell, who coaches the debating team at Liberty University, a Christian college in Virginia."

That's right, The University of Jerry Falwell.

mmm, tasty...

Watched Lester get out of the first inning jam and then turned off the lights. Woke up to the start of highlights on TV. Sweet. Enjoyed watching DLowe throw a nice game. He looks like he has dropped a few pounds in LA. Also enjoyed watching Manny hitting his tee shot.

Hey, lay off my sister.

For the record, I categorically deny that Brett O'Donnell is a blood relation with me at any level, not even a 10th cousin 3 times removed.

Anyway, we are Boston area Catholics. If one of my relatives is coaching a debating team it is Boston College.

Bob, Bob, Bob,
Where are your priorities man?
Compromizing your values this early in the relationship will lead to a loss of your manhood. You gotta...OK, sorry honey I'll get off the computer now.

lc, beat me to it - I was gonna say, everytime Ellsbury is on first, an Angel pitcher pees.

Bob, jeez it must be love! Are her parents not Sox fans? The best way to impress my parents would be to take my stepdad to the game with you.

Just tell them you would like him to check out the reception hall.

Anyone read CHB this morning? Made me almost lose my bfast: "Trust me when I tell you that Sox wins and losses have zero bearing on my happiness."
No, CHB, you are happier when they lose. He is such an ass.

Great game, great strip, go Sox!

//Just tell them you would like him to check out the reception hall.//

Yeah, goota bring that whole issue up. Don't know how well the Fenway wedding thing will go over with them.

I used to laugh at my buddy Robert because he couldn't go to The Snow Bowl with me due to some wedding shower or what-not.

And now, here I am, fresh whip marks on my back.

Oops, Doug's font was a copy/paste error. Not intentional.

Great game by our new ace Lester. How bout props for Masterson getting through the heart of the Angels order in a one run game. They really trust the kid. Glad to see they had such s solid game plan for pitching to the Angels batters. Let's hope that it continues on Friday. We have no idea what to expect from Becket.

Also if Vlad was hurt and noticeably limping why didn't they pinch run for him?

Love the time difference here in MST.

Bob, I'd drop everything and fly to Boston for Sunday's game. Now, how to get in touch with you? catocop (at)
verizon (dot) net.

Bob, what're you looking to get for those tickets? I know I don't comment much, but I'm totally interested if they're not going to be too much over face value?

Every time Lester toes the rubber, an Angel cries...

In spite of all the talk of being sanguine and not needing to see the game and shit, I lied. Damned if I wasn't up for the whole thing -- and SOOOO glad I was. Although, who the hell was that toothless goober providing the color commentary? Jeezuz, the Geff-meister would have done a better job. Well, maybe not, but still... I missed the RemDawg something fierce.

Gotta make like Vlad and run to a meeting now.

Palin is just like Lester. A little bit of nerves, but doing fine once she settles in.

Palin is just like the economy. Strong fundamentals.

Hi h.b.!

Mike E., MWL beat you to the punch by 5 minutes and has first dibs, but email me anyway, because who knows if he can make it in to Boston.

[email protected]

So here is a question...

What does Francona do if the Sox come back to Boston up 2-0. Do you skip Josh and let him get even more healthy for the ALCS and roll the dice in game 3 with Wakefield or Byrd?

Pudge,Do I hear a song in this?

Palin and gooches.
Divine Wind and Dice-K-san.
Another pennant?

Wow, Bob, you are the best. This is a wonderful community (although I mostly just "lurk"). I haven't been to a playoff game in Fenway since Al Nipper pitched Game 5 in '86. My dear sister camped on Yawkey way for two nights to score those seats.

Back to last night's game - I thought I'd give it a miss and then I was too excited to not listen (no cable, satellite radio instead, so Joe and Dave) a bit...was finally able to fall asleep when Lester struck out the side after being handed a lead.

//Oops, Doug's font was a copy/paste error. Not intentional.//

First frame had copypasta error too. :P

I never want to read Palin and Lester in the same sentence again. That's tantamount to heresy, and heresy I will not tolerate.

Interesting question. Here's how I'd answer. It completely depends on how healthy Josh is. If they truly feel he is 100%, then you absolutely pitch him and end it right there.

But, if they are telling the media he is 100%, when in reality, behind closed doors, they are worried about him, then I would guess they'd use the opportunity to give him a longer rest.

What they do would be indicitive of how the injury has healed so far.

If they come back 1-1, and he is okay, but not perfect, I think they pitch him.

Rich: ha!

Colin: you threatening me is like Palin trying to hit a Lester curveball!

For you Manny haters. Please read this!

And Palin blows dead goats

Scott, so you ... wish you were a dead goat?! I don't like where this conversation is going ... !

And who might you be? Another persona of BigBri?

Colin, I'm old school. Been busy this season, have returned for the playoffs. Harwich Rich obviously remembers me.

Just to show we're on the same side here, check out my song, Tim McCarver Blues.

Ah ok I see now. Excellent then.

Forgive my ignorance, I was afraid that BigBri or another MFY hellspawn had emerged to try and spite the Sox.

Scott, my head is spinning from the Simmons piece.

Colin, pudge is a guy who had a song on one of the YouTube debates (sounds like a slam, but I don't mean it that way).

As for Palin,

Couric Why, in your view, is Roe v. Wade a bad decision?

Sarah Palin: I think it should be a states' issue not a federal government-mandated, mandating yes or no on such an important issue. I'm, in that sense, a federalist, where I believe that states should have more say in the laws of their lands and individual areas. Now, foundationally, also, though, it's no secret that I'm pro-life that I believe in a culture of life is very important for this country. Personally that's what I would like to see, um, further embraced by America.

Couric: Do you think there's an inherent right to privacy in the Constitution?

Palin: I do. Yeah, I do.

Couric: The cornerstone of Roe v. Wade.

Palin: I do. And I believe that individual states can best handle what the people within the different constituencies in the 50 states would like to see their will ushered in an issue like that.

Couric: What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?

Palin: Well, let's see. There's, of course in the great history of America there have been rulings, that's never going to be absolute consensus by every American. And there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but …

Couric: Can you think of any?

Palin: Well, I could think of … any again, that could be best dealt with on a more local level. Maybe I would take issue with. But, you know, as mayor, and then as governor and even as a vice president, if I'm so privileged to serve, wouldn't be in a position of changing those things but in supporting the law of the land as it reads today.

summary: humminah humminah hummminah

pudge is a gamer here, it's just his politics that are all screwed up. :)

If I could display a facepalm in this blog I would absolutely take pleasure in doing so after reading that transcript between Ms. Speaks in Tongues and Couric the Failboat.

For the debate - buzzword bingo cards. Every time a buzzword is used, you drink. Get bingo, you chug.

Honestly...are you trying to get everyone to die of alcohol and/or cause massive DUIs?

It would help if that link were usable. Sorry...

VP Debate Drinky Bingo

Ah, Pudge, good to see your comments and glad to have you back.

With your absence and Jason O's ever more infrequent visits, nobody ever has my back on those occasions when my doppleganger gun-totin, flag wavin, tax hatin, red statin' side leaks out of my containment field.

Who says smoking "J"s is bad for you? It's the key to Red Sox success!

J ason Varitek - called a great game, big sac bunt.

J ed Lowrie - shrugged off the early error, made a few decent plays, singled and scored an important insurance run.

J ason Bay - two-run homer, double.

J on Lester - pitched a fantastic game.

J acoby Ellsbury - what didn't he do?

J ustin Masterson - clutch hold in the 8th.

J onathan Papelbon - got the save.

For those of you keeping score at home, if you throw in JD Drew, Josh Beckett and Javier Lopez, 10 of the 25 men on the Red Sox active roster have first names starting with "J". Oh yeah, let's not forget Jeff Bailey, Julio Lugo, Joe Thurston and Jonathan Van Every.

I wonder if the Dems are going to try and jam Palin's earpiece tonight.

/I wonder if the Dems are going to try and jam Palin's earpiece tonight.//

Yeah, they could hide the jamming device in one of Biden's hair plugs.

I'd jam Palin's earpiece if she gave me permission.

Oh, wait, you didn't mean it like that, did you?

louclinton: I am a big Supreme Court geek. I know a lot more than most Americans about Supreme Court cases and people and arguments.

And frankly, I think my understanding of the Supreme Court is plenty sufficient for any President.

And last night *I* couldn't think of a case I disagreed with, for at least 10 seconds, and even then the only one that came to mind was the no-executions-for-child-rapists case, because I'd just read about it earlier the same day.

Most people's brains don't work like that. How many times have you been asked "what's your favorite _____" and you couldn't come up with a quick answer?

Ask me my opinion on Heller or Raich or Kelo or Lawrence or any of a large number of cases, many of which I disagree with, and I can give you detailed answers. Ask me to simply name a case I disagree with, and there's a good chance I won't be able to.

This is how normal human beings function.

Oh, and speaking of J names (I remember the good old days of B names), I was thinking awhile back about all the Hispanics on the team, including Lowell, and yesterday I realized that Pedroia's middle name is "Luis."

Good God - sorry I missed reading comments today. Gotta work sometime. Husband got up in the middle of the night to check the score and I was completly and totally shocked. Then I was shocked to realize I was shocked. Where did the faith go - how sad. I'm better now.

Pudge - glad to see ya back. Fondly remember an entertaining political dialog. :-)

And look what Dustin's promoting:

hiya birthofasoxfan97.

Bob: ha!

It's funny how marketing works, eh Bob?

The stuff's not bad, actually. Although I hear the Pedroia version has pea beans.

A woman has an (implied) right to privacy in her body, therefore the States may make no law forbidding her from killing her unborn child.

However, the States may also make no laws allowing this same woman to smoke weed to relieve the terrible nausea brought on by cancer chemotherapy because of the implication that the weed might somehow affect or be affected by interstate commerce.

Does this make any sense at all? This is where you end up when you start making rules based on what's implied versus what's NECESSARILLY implied. How about we have a national debate over what an actual constitutionally protected right to privacy should be, then put it into the Constitution?

And let's interpert the thing in whole sentences while we are at it.

Just my two cents.

I disagree in re: not knowing. Even if she didn't know a case name she might have come up with the Supreme Court case which knocked down punitive damages for the Exxon Valdez running aground. After all, it was just a few months ago, while she was Governor and she appeared on TV that day railing against it.

That aside, do you think it's too much to expect that she can name a newspaper that she reads regularly?
