Your omniscient author in absentia:
Dear readers,
I'm totally crushed right now with a work/project deadline of the sort where "nobody leaves today until X, Y, and Z is complete" so I'm going to skip today's strip.
It doesn't help, of course, that we lost 4.5 hrs on Weds. for the "pep rally" thingy.
Ah, well, at least the Sox gained half a game doing nothing.
Sorry to hear that HB. There is nothing worse then mandatory self congratulatory meetings when there is real work to be done.

There's always a pep rally before a storm of work.
Bosses aren't stupid. They're just evil.

"HB, why isn't my TPS report done?"
"Sir, I was doing trust falls for 3 hours, and..."
"Don't make excuses, Brachen."

fitting that on the last days of yankee stadium we have a tree growing out of the cracks of hb's/the character's work station. i went there once in 1965, with my great uncle who had sweet seats from a bank that is no defunct, but arent they all and i remember it pretty good, since that was the day they drove me into the village and pointed out out all the shiftless hippies who have now grown up to have severe liver damage and whatnot, but time is a bitch anyways as we all know, speaking of which the only non asshole in pink floyd dies, and George Beverly Shea
Dolores Hope Mitch Miller Karl Malden, Irwin Corey, Mark Felt, Art Linkletter and Harry Morgan are alive? what the heck? btw email me if you have ever heard of any of these people they were big in my youf. except for dolores hope.
Anyway, back to YS, which is the location of AFBoone, which if you don't know it was the last spike in the heart of rsn and then its been all puppies dogs and roses and papis and paps and nancy (nevermind, my back hurts and mannys grandma died so i have to sit on a plane for that, but cant take bp)and all the rest of the lovable cutups that make up the team, but speaking of which youk is always angry and dicek shows zero affect except when bitching at the ump, and cant tek do better than watney? but i digress.
1st place by sunday, that's what i'm saying if not there's always monday or tuesday a week in anaheim where i have some other memories noone wants to hear about.

The day will be easier HB with that Bon Jovi song running thru your head.

I just wanted to tell you good luck. We're all counting on you.

lc, it's Friday -- going all Leopold Bloom, Benjy Compton, To The Lighthouse on us is making my head hurt. Otherwise, brilliant!

Jeezuz lou, cut back a touch on the cough syrup, huh? That stream-of-consciousness rant left me seeing swimming dots in front of my eyes - and I always liked Harry Morgan. And my liver is just fine, thank you.
Oh, and thanks Twinkies!

Art Linkletter is still with us? Huh. Old posters say the strangest things.
Posted by: Dave B | 2008.09.19 at 02:30 PM
(Linkletter): Billy, do you love your mommy and daddy?
(BILLY): I love my daddy, but my mommy's crotch smells like fish.
Anyway, I'm in charge of getting the beer cart drinks today, so it's off to The Golden Goose.
Have a great weekend, all. Hopefully we'll have something fun to yak about on Monday.

Soxaholix Saturday morning (du) awards go to:
Jimmy Joyce (not the umpire) inspired rant of the day: lou clinton
A county not heard from for a while: dave & rob tied
Unforgivable caprice by an employer: hb's bosses
Totally & predictably, gut churningly disgusting post of the day: (for the fourth consecutive year) Bob (hhmmmmmm, fish).

If the answer is two, the question must be 'what is the Yankee's elimination number?'

Ahh,the end of the Colon era.I'm sure we'll all be yaking about it on Monday ;)
Posted by: Harwich Rich | 2008.09.20 at 09:24 AM
The colon era doesn't come to end an end until a few hours after my tailgate tomorrow.
Posted by: Bob | 2008.09.20 at 10:06 PM
Ouch Bob. I hope you had a lot to drink in the car park cos your boys really took it up the colon.

OK, I had to comment. Not on the post, on Lou's rant.
Nicely done.
Yes, I'm afraid I'm all too familiar with all those old farts. (except Delores Hope - is that Bob's wife?, and Mark Felt)
And just how much of a damn "national treasure" can this place be made into. I guess I would feel the same if Fenway came down, but jeez! I wouldn't expect it to be a freaking national holiday or anything.
I mean, I'm sure there are thousands of people who have incredible memories of being there and truly feel like they're saying goodbye to a family member. But the SAME FREAKING THING was true in Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinatti, etc. etc. when those stadiums came down. I don't remember the nation coming to a standstill on those occasions.
Oh...that's right....the YANKEES didn't play in those stadiums.
Pardon me while I go wash that awful puke taste out.
