Ichiban, bitches

Bill:
I love this line from Oki:

"It’s great that Japanese fans will get to see the No. 1 team in the world."

Bill:
Numbah 1 team in the world, indeed.

Mike:
Yeah, has a nice ring to it doesn't it?

Bill:
This is the Red Sox Century.

Bill:
Melky Milquetoast Cabrera? Are you friggin' kidding me?

Mike:
Yeah, "Mr. I've nevah seen a pitch I'm not going to swing at."

Bill:
You know what though? Let's say Sheehan's right and Melky gets Mighty …

Bill:
I see your Melky and raise you one Jacoby.

Mike:
Right on, bro.

I'm not sure if this is the Red Sox century quite yet. We won the first World Series and a chunk right after that in the early 20th century, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't Red Sox Century.

baby steps, let's start with the Red Sox Decade and work up from there.

The hell with modesty and baby steps.

Let's frigging dominate the century, then put our foot down and repeat in the 2100s.

Oki pitched for the Nippon Ham Fighters?

Weird. BB used to pitch for the Chillicothe Ham Eaters.

I think we can probably go ahead and call this Red Sox Decade, unless the mfy win three championships in the next two years.

'I'm not sure if this is the Red Sox century quite yet'

Pure heresy.

Fuck it. This is the Red Sox eternity.

Aim high.

The latest offering from Someecards:

http://www.someecards.com/upload/sports/wanting_to_make_gentle_yet_impassioned.html

Last night Toon Network replayed the Family Guy episode with Tom Brady. They showed Peter joining him naked in the shower. Is Peter gay?

Peter is just ignorantly blind to his own being and would right on board w/ the RS century/eternity/etc.

I wouldn't say Peter Griffin in necessarily gay because he plows Lois, but I wouldn't be surprised if many a man turned gay from Brady.

Having a man-crush on Tom Brady isn't gay.

Talking about it is.

....oh, wait. Damnit. See what you did!

The 20th century was odd. Except for the 70s (Bruins and Celtics) and 90s (nobody!), every other decade there was one, and only one, Boston team that won championships. 00s-10s, Red Sox; 20s-40s, Bruins; 50s-80s, Celtics.

It's why the period 1986-2000 was so painful. We'd never gone through that kind of a dry spell before.

Now we are getting two at once, multiple times over. For the first time, two in a year, and at least five in seven years, maybe seven in 7+ by summer, maybe three teams instead of two ... even if the Celtics did lose two in a row to the Whizzers. (And don't give me crap about the Patriots not being a Boston team. That's stupid.)

This could be not just the Red Sox decade, but the BOSTON decade ... or century. And it is very enjoyable while it lasts.

DIE CHARGERS DIE.

(Now if only the Bruins can win a championship while I live ...)
