One year later...
Today marks the one year anniversary of The Soxaholix website …
From the author:
Hart here, just wanted to say thanks to all of you who've made The Soxaholix a regular stop on your travels through the blogosphere during the 365 days, 279 strips, and 1824 comments that have passed since Bill and Doug became the first characters to speak on March 30, 2004.
From the author:
That first April the site clocked just over 15,000 page views which totally blew my mind. Who knew that a year later we'd be averaging just shy of 50,000 page views a month and be fans of the defending World Champs?
From the author:
As one of the characters might say, Un-fucking-believable!
Rider on Green Line:
Thanks so much, and I look forward to what the next year will hold for all of us.
From the author::
And just so I don't leave you without a link, check out the first question in this quiz for Spankees fans. Gotta love it.
Congrats, HB!
Soxaholix brings me much joy, so thanks for keeping the show running.

thanks HB,it's always entertaining and informative. Who knew how hot Lebanese women could be.

I took the test and it says I am ARod- what do I do now? Hide in the ladies room and cry or run down the hall slapping everybody with my purse?
Posted by: mean art teacher | 2005.03.30 at 08:55 AM
"Which NY Yankee are you?"
It's like an 8th grade girl's slumber party quiz...or so I imagine.
It appears that there are no questions that would direct one to a "Kevin Brown" result.
H.B.,
We appreciate the innovative format you use for The Soxaholix and the year's worth of energy you've expended.
Semi-related--have you all noticed a number of other blogs (Keys to the Game, Tao of Manny, etc.) consolidating or something? A new, more profit-oriented era in the idiom?
Posted by: SawxSince67 | 2005.03.30 at 09:01 AM
Consolidation of baseball blogs seems to be the new thing, though it did start last year with Hardball Times and All Baseball. The latter has since had a bunch of guys splinter off into a new group thing called the Baseball Toaster.
It's an interesting way to go and may be just the way to go, though I'm skeptical. Considering that the entire web is more or less one big consolidation, I'm not sure of the point.
Every blog is just one click away whether they are grouped or not.
Also I confess to getting bored visually with a group of blogs that all look the same as is the case with All Baseball and Toaster.

Happy Anniversary, HB!

hey h.b. thanks for all the morning laughters that I've had for the past 3 months. To tell you the truth I have no idea how I got to this site but it's been worth it ever since. Keep it up and thanks again! Saludos a todos desde Puerto Rico!! (Greetings to everyone from Puerto Rico!!)
Posted by: Moncho Arzuaga | 2005.03.30 at 09:17 AM
congrats HB.
Soxaholix is the first site I check out each day when I begin the process of goofing off at work. Funny, thoughtful and never disappointing. Keep it up.
p.s. I answered no to everything on the quiz and it spat out that I was Tino Martinez. I can live with that, I guess.

Congrats. Like I said when I found this place last year, brilliant stuff. That's enough butt-kissing from me, get back to work!
Posted by: skillzy | 2005.03.30 at 09:28 AM
A year already?! Nice. How time flies when your team wins the World Series.
Posted by: JB | 2005.03.30 at 09:38 AM
HB -- I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- you are the man. Thanks for making the last year so kick ass, and congrats on the success.
Now let's re-peat!
Posted by: Kluv | 2005.03.30 at 09:46 AM
Congradulations H.B.! It's only been a year? Wow! Hard to believe it.
Like many others, your site is now part of my daily ritual before I embark on wasting yet another 8 to 10 hours of my life that I'll never get back here at The Software Factory..
Keep up the great work!
Also, side note: I dont want to be like Jimmy. Have you thought about adding PayPal for accepting donations?
Posted by: mr. blackandwhite | 2005.03.30 at 09:51 AM
awesome site! has jumped to #1 on my daily list of Sox-related sites to visit!
Keep up the good work its very entertaining!!!

I've been following the baseball blog saga (and blogging about it... is that too meta? Probably.)-- Most Valuable Network is taking over the world. It's run by a Red Sox fan though, so it's all OK.
Wow, this strip is written by the Green Line? I never knew... :)

Continues to be a must read - congrats!
Posted by: Dan | 2005.03.30 at 11:01 AM
Congratulations h.b.! What a year it was! You've been bookmarked and one of my first morning reads pretty much since the beginning. I wonder if I'm the only person who has a '1918 heah' t-shirt?
That quiz told me that I'm AFraud, so I guess I'd better go off and slap some balls!
Posted by: AJM | 2005.03.30 at 11:37 AM
The test told me I was Thurman Munson. I guess it makes sense... I couldn't fly a plane either.
Happy Year Anniversary!
Posted by: Carmine | 2005.03.30 at 11:38 AM
Oddly enough, if you answer yes to all of them, it makes you Derek Jeter.
"You are DEREK JETER! Loved by all true Yankee fans, respected but hated by most, and just completely unappreciated by Boston fans. You love to win, but most importantly you go after it with all your heart and try to motivate everyone around you to win as well. You are a respected and well-spoken, good looking person who is always getting a lot of attention"
I am Derek Jeter. I'm so good I just hate myself.

I did the stupid test. It turned out I was spending 5 minutes of my life I could never have back, which meant I was non roster invtitee to Spankee spring training.

H.B. Congratulations. I enjoy the post every day, but I also thouroughly enjoy the comraderie in the comments section as well. I try to wait until the afternoon to read soxaholix, so I can read everyone else's thoughts as well.
Keep up the good work! What up da kine

Wow, congratulations. Soxaholix is a daily read for me. I love your sense of humor.

Great work, HB! Followed a link here from dirtdogs at the beginning and have been hooked since - you are definitely part of my daily Red Sox online travels.
keep up the good stuff.

to honor your year anniverssary, i put up a print of your blog in my bos's office today (yankees fan), and started 3 random "yankees suck" chants throughout town
now, seeing that i live in tallahassee florida, this was looked upon as rather strange by the townfolk
but it didnt stop a few people from joining in :)

Helluva job, guys. I haven't related to a cartoon like this since Mighty Mouse. We'll see ya at the games.

Cowboy the fuck up!!!

congrats HB! who knew that all it took to win a championship was static cartoon figures mimicking the stories of the day's papers and pissing on the MFY...here's to Soxaholix and the Idiots you serve!
Posted by: bd | 2005.03.30 at 03:25 PM
Herald: Piece of shit, right-wing wacko fuck tabloid made to be read while taking a dump. Filled with columnists that couldn't get hired at other papers.
Globe: Pompous trust fund cocksuckers. Although they do have the worst baseball writer ever to be published in Beantown, Gordon Feces.
Pro Jo: Sing-in here you Cianci loving fucks.
WEEI: An absolute joke. Ted Sarandis needs to be beat like a hockey dad. I'd like to see someone tie Dale Arnold down and dye his hair all one color.
SOSH: ? Wannabe "Rays from Lynn"
Remy Report: What's next for that nicotine addicted fuck? Play by play on Sox players jerking off? Over-rated. Fuck him and his 9 dollar barbecue sandwiches.
BDD: I'm waiting for them to take credit for curing cancer.
SOXAHOLIX: The best, most informative, straight shooting website kept interesting by the biggest bunch of nerdy fucks alive, which I'm glad to be one of. Informative, funny and brilliantly scripted. Pure fucking genius.
As For H.B.: Will he be able to pull off another award winning season? Or will he be happy with "status quo?" Don't let us down, fearless leader! Let's bury those Skank fans forever!

Congratulations! I've only been reading for a few weeks, but I look forward to the new Soxaholix every weekday. And on weekends, I am sad because no new Soxaholix.
By the way, I'm Tino Martinez. Fine. Considering that, after I had to admit that I will cheat if I can get away with it, I was afraid I'd get Princess A-Rod, Martinez works for me.

Congrats HB, you have warmed the cockles of many a member of Red Sox nation.
I want to say thanks, plus it gives me a reason to use the word cockles.
I have spent many a day killing time and perusing the archives of Soxaholix, because it is simply the best timeline for remembering how magical a season 2004 was.
Personal favorite quote besides the "feeling of providence" after we won-
October 17, 2004-after the game three 19-8 beating-No fucking magma. No fucking lava.-
"Bill from home:
It's one thing to have the Yankees as your "Daddy." It's quite another to have them play the role of serial pedophile who keeps you tied up in some dingy basement turned torture chamber and rapes you violently 7 or 8 times a day for a week before killing you, dismembering you and then freezing your arms and legs and brain to feast on throughout the wintah. "
Fucking brilliant man. It made me feel better to be curled up in a fetal position.

I love your strip - thanks for a great year. I like to think that a lot of fans this year tried to start something new to support the boys & that's why the curse snapped with such incredible style! Someone should start oa list of everything different each fan did this year different that before!
As for that stupid Which Chokee Are You test, I'm Jorge Posada. I guess that makes me a whiny little bitch. Neat.
Posted by: Ice Princess | 2005.03.30 at 04:10 PM
Man, I'd totally forgotten that serial pedophile thing from Bill.
Weirdest thing about doing these characters is looking back at some of the previous strips and thinking, "Whoa, I wrote that? Where did I come up with that?" Like it's some totally other me that does it and whom I'm only somewhat familiar with.

H.B. Outstanding! This is the first and last stop of the day for me on the Net. Perfect timing with the site and the WS for the Soxs. As a lifelong fan and Baystater, I can get enough MFY bashing and the dirt on our own "alledged" media. I, too, believe that the serial pedophile bit was perhaps the best, although, the visit to the priest prior to the ACLS with the MFY was also priceless. Cheers!

Just took the test: I'm Steinbrenner and I just gave Miguel Cairo 12 mil for 2 years and Steve Howe another 1.2 mil for a new lawyer. BTW, Fuck Yogi Berra.

Happy anniversary. I know it seems cliched by now but you couldn't have picked a better year to start.
I don't know if the guys at Get Your War On have seen this and made changes to their site to make it better.
Best of luck with SXSW.

Happy birthday, Soxaholix! Thanks for all the yuks HB, as well as for a place to get one-stop updates (without 36 point font, even) on the pulse of the Nation.
