Bash Brotha 4 Life
Bill:
It's Juiced Day! You gonna read it?
Doug:
Fuck yeah I am. It's winging its way from Amazon as we speak.
Bill:
Dude, you didn't spring for the autographed version?
Doug:
I shoulda. I'm not a Jose hatah like some.
Bill:
Yeah, I know. I remembah when you were saving up the 25 hundred to go dinnah with him. Whatevah happened with that?
Doug:
The more I thought about it the more I was like, shit, the dude's under house arrest. How much fucking fun can we have? I want wild times and rampant roids and shit.
Bill:
You coulda ordered up some hookers.
Doug:
Ho to go? The thought crossed my mind. But remembah, Jose's a pinche broke ass mofo. It's one thing to pay 25 hundred to hang out with him. It's anothah thing entirely to pay to get him laid too.
Bill:
Ah, grasshoppa, you are the sagacious one.
Doug:
Fuck I am. My resplendence has no bitch.
The "my resplendence has no bitch" quote is my favourite ever. I remember you using it awhile back ... like when I first started reading here :) It always makes me laugh.

Thanks.
Doug has used that line a couple of times. That's one of the cool things about being the omniscient voice behind the characters: I can have them repeat things and it actually becomes part of their characterization, i.e., Does Doug realize he says this line repeatedly? If so, why does he do it? If not, what does that mean?
Depending on how you, the reader, answer those questions, will in large part be due to how you perceive him.
And if he starts to say that line (or any other line repeated) more frequently, what will that mean? How will that effect the reader response to his character?
Fun stuff.

Wow, so h.b., does that mean they have birthdates we can look forward to them celebrating throughout the years??
I like how you have kept the offseason alive, but to be honest, I can't wait until we are talking about the game itself again...

You're telling me. The offseason is killing me! It's so tough, especially on Mondays, to come up with anything for the characters to rant about.
I can't tell you how many times I've been like, "I can't do it. I just can't do it."

But you do. It's when the news is thinnest that you seem to have your greatest moments.
No pressure intended there. I'm just sayin'.

I'm with Rick. I think your off-season strips have been stellar, perhaps because they are in some ways thematic (and thus endlessly inventive) rather than straightforward reactions to the previous night's game. (I especially love the meta ones where the characters rag on bloggers, heh.)
