Counting down the hours

The Playoff match ups are set: Red Sox v Anaheim in the ALCDS …

Mike:
Did you get this morning's email from ol' man Scrivener?

Susan/Circle:
Hell yeah. He's shutting the office down at 3pm tomorrow so we can all watch Game 1 at 4pm. The Scriv may be an old pervert, but his heart's in the right place.

Mike:
No word yet on whether he's going to cut us any slack on Thursday morning, after the 10pm Game 2 start the night before.

Susan/Circle:
Hopefully the Sox'll take the first two and then work won't matter anyway.

Mike:
Fuck yeah, worker productivity in New England drops to that of Third World country whenever the Sox are in the post season.

Susan/Circle:
Students, too. I was a decent math student until the playoffs in '86. Ended up failing trig that year because I didn't do any homework during that run. I never recovered. Fuck math anyway. [Laughs]

Mike:
Remember that series with the Angels in '86?

Susan/Circle:
Like it was yesterday. I was 15 and all that mattered to me were the Smiths and the Red Sox.

Mike:
Yeah, "How Soon Is Now?" could be the title of my life with the Red Sox.… Well, except for the "all my hope is gone" part.

Susan/Circle:
The hours between now and 4pm Tuesday are going to effin' drag.

Mike:
No doubt. And nobody bettah fuck with my work place lassitude unless it's to discuss the ALDS.

i find it incredible that so many folks are so affected by The Smiths as time goes on. the Beatles of our generation.

That's so true about the Smiths. You know what else is interesting is how listening to the Smiths seemed like such a lonely thing, like it was just you who "got" it... then later you find out that there where millions of us Smiths fans across the USA but we never knew it. At least that was my experience.

7 days a week? I'm going to try. May need to sneak in an off day on the days after a team travel day in order to stay fresh.

"All men have secrets and here is mine"
"Oh ,I'm too tired..I'm so sick and tired..and I'm feeling very sick and and ill today"

"When you say it is gonna happen " now""
"Well, "when" do you exactly mean?"
"See I've already waited too long"

How appropriate it is that we have Morrissey in town to to distract our attention away from no game tonight?

Recall T gateing that October Sunday after a Pats game in the parking lot of the the old Foxboro Stadium when Hendu cracked that tatter. WOW with all those radios and portable TV's tuned into Oakland it was like the thousands hangin' around were almost there in spirit. The place went nuts! What an afternoon!

Wow. Susan and I are the same age? And a Smiths reference? This is good karma.

[tapping my foot] Is it game time yet????

Someone needs to tell Teaballgame to put his weed away. That game in '86 was in Anaheim, not Oakland. Then again, it's not easy to type with "Barney Arms." BTW, when The Smith's released "Meat Is Murder" in 1985, were we all thinking "I hate cheeseburgers?" Then when "Girlfriend In A Coma" came out, I forgot all about my new found vegitarianism and ate meat anyways. Fuck those Saab driving Angel fans, anyways. When the Sox DO win, what are the chances Susan will give up the back door to a drunken party mate whose name she will never know? Lastly, I'd rather listen to 10 minutes of Hazel Mae than 30 seconds of that fucking Drop Kick Murphy's song. My kid could be in that band and I'd still hate them.
