The scrotumtightening sea.

So much for the Rockies 8 game losing streak … They beat the Sox 6-3 at Coors in a frustrating "load 'em 'and leave 'em" game …

Mike:
Happy fucking Bloomsday

Susan/Circle:
Fitting. Watching the Red Sox strand umpteen men on base is as painful as reading Joyce's Ulysses.

Mike:
Now 4 an'a half back … Adrift in the sea. The snotgreen sea. The scrotumtightening sea.

Susan/Circle:
Being a Red Sox fan is the happy hunting ground of all minds that have lost their balance.

Mike:
Didya see the FDA is going to approve a surgical implant that stimulates the brain and is said to cure depression?

Susan/Circle:
Oh, yeah. Vagus nerve stimulation. Sign me the fuck up for that shit.

Author's Notes
Both characters use quotes from James Joyce's Ulysses.

Comments

I'm officially ignoring the Yankees. They're really hot right now (17-3!), but it can't last. Plus the Kevin Brown DL watch is over.

The Sox are playing .600 ball right now, the roster is coming back, they're far exceeding their previous interleague performances (not hard, really), and are the third best team in baseball. I'll take it B)

Good points.

Like an animal, we lay down and wait...

I've noticed several Joyce references lately. Will we be seeing stream of consciousness cartooning soon?

The Joyce refs seemed appropriate for the 100th anniversary of the publication of Ulysseus, but you'll probably still see some more here and there later.

Truth be told, I'm not much of a Joyce fan.

'Portrait of the Artis' is OK, but the rest is unreadable.

"Portrait of the Artis' is OK, but the rest is unreadable."

Agreed. But now that we've both admitted such in a public space, we shall forever be labeled as gauche by the literati.

Not that I notice, mind you.
