Finding the loving feeling

Mike:
Two walkoffs in two consecutive games?!?! Unbelievable dot com.

Bill:
Get this — aftah Saddadee's walkoff bomb, Papi is now on 3 walkoffs from the all time, all MLB lead.

Mike:
The Sox have now won nine in row for the first time since Septembah of [gulp] 2004.

Bill:
Funny you should say that, as I'm getting that 2004 feeling again for the first time since, er, 2004.

Mike:
Wicked good times again.

[Note: I'm taking a spur of the moment mini-vacation and going out of town for the remainder of the week. I'll try to do a weekend catchup strip, but we'll see how that goes. — Hart]

Your time off is well earned. Enjoy and we look forward to your return!

Ach, hb, so you're not going to be around adding your considerable wit and spot-on explorations to the "20 year anniversary of '86" "celebration" at Fenway this week. Whatever shall I do to make the lambs stop screaming????

Enjoy the well-deserved time off. Know that this site is a distinct pleasure and you do a phenomenal job. Hope your weather is fine wherever you land this week...

May the reign of King Logan continue this evening!

I know everyone's saying "you can't come to expect it" but everyone does. Don't hate me, but I think that's why I felt a little less awed by David's performance for not getting it done in less dramatic fashion against a better pitcher in the bottom of the ninth. An important hit, but relatively low on the top ten list for mister clutch.

Enjoy your holiday Mr. Bracken.

Good Lord, Son of Hamulack, now we're disappointed when Papi doesn't get the walk-off exactly when we want it?:)

Personally, I'll take 'em at any time.

This descendant of Tessie thing is starting to frighten me.

HB, enjoy the mini vacation. Sorry you'll miss the Mets series and the earth-shattering return of Pedro.

Hope Lester can throw another good one tonight and give the bullpen a day off. If he struggles I vote Seanez as the sacrificial lamb. Let that schmuck throw his arm off.

Hey, a little unrelated business. I got my Patriots season tickets yesterday. Guess who's featured on the ticket for the first regular season game?

Adam V.

Once again, the Krafts show what a class act they are.

//This descendant of Tessie thing is starting to frighten me.//

Unless his/her name is Damien, I'm perfectly fine with it. (In fact, even if his name IS Damien.)

//Saddadee's//

<3 <3 <3

Better Damien than Damon.

Have a great Holiday, hb. Thanks for all you do.

//Your time off is well earned. Enjoy and we look forward to your return!
//

HB it seems like you are becoming more and more of the Big O from WEEI

Enjoy your vay-cay, h.b.! Here's hoping we have another sweep under our belts by the time you return. (I don't really expect us to sweep the Mets, but the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised.)

Well, my morning coffee won't be the same without the strip for the remainder of the week, but enjoy yourself, HB. By the way, did you book your vacation through www.unbelievable.com??? Yes, I looked it up...

Was at the game yesterday...man, that was one of the best games I've been to in a long time.

Only one thing marred the day...Rudy Seanez. As a nation, can RSN just buy this guy's contract out from the organization? I think it'd come to about $8 each (assuming 1 million in RSN). I would gladly pay $8 to never have to see that guy wear the name Red Sox ever again.

His name is Logan, not named after the airport, but he's decidedly good at making the Red Sox take off!

He doesn't know a world in which the Red Sox lose and I don't want him to!

Oops, almost forgot to say 9 in a row!

(Grandpa's a Mets' fan though. He'll just have to accept that our baby was born a Red Sox fan!!!! God knows I have!)

Kaz: where do I mail $8 , heck, I'll give $10 ;-)

If I can interrupt for a moment re: Petey coming home tomorrow. The BDD are pissing me the frig off. They spend all manner of text begging us not to boo Dambitch, then chastise us when we tell that noodle-armed bitch what we think of him, but they want us to hate on Petey? Last time I checked, Petey went to the Mets, not the MFY. If they can't tell the difference twixt the two, then they are dangerously close to CHB territory. Of course, they ARE associated with the boring broadsheet.

I for one welcome Pedro's return to Boston. I say cheer him when he warms up, then cheer when he gets pulled in the 3rd inning because of the monstrous onslaught of runs scored by our beloved Red Sox offense.

'Seattle's coming in this weekend, and, I mean - This is when they need me.'

A well-deserved rest HB but your no Ben Wrightman.

have a good time

and if yall unhappy bout papi hitting boring ol walk off singles, we'll take him on my stros.

contract and all

When Logan goes "red," will he get plastic surgery from a 70's futuristic mirrored machine with the doctor and Farrah Fawcett quite nervous that he's a sandman?

Leave town for the Mets...good idea, I might do that this weekend.

While I still have lingering psychic scars from the unspeakable events of October 1986, I find that I can't summon nearly the level of animosity for the Mets as I once did...and for much the same reason I no longer hate the Chicago Bears over the drubbing in Superbowl XX. Winning really does heal all wounds.

Besides, I have a certain sympathy for Mets fans. We only have to deal with obnoxious Yankee fans 19 times per year; Mets followers, on the other hand, are surrounded by them...

Lingering scars, Aaron? Try this out. My husband, a lifelong Mets fan, and I moved in together, in October 1986. Ugh. Wasn't easy but time (and a victory of our own on the way to which we make the Yanks suck down the bitterest pill and choke on it) heals all wounds.

My hubby and I don't speak of Jessie Orosco or Mookie Wilson much but we do hate the Yankees together!

My issue with this '86 celebration is not in being forced to recall that year (2004 did heal a lot of wounds), but rather the Montessori School "everyone is special, we're all winners, let's give each of you a gold star" way of celebrating what amounted to a failure. Don't get me wrong, I loved that team, but honoring them over, say, '85 or '87 (two other teams who failed to win it all) just seems silly. And not to bring up the Evil Empire, but I doubt the 2021 Yankees will be feting their 2001 team, rightly so.

The 2004 Sox, however, should be canonized. :)

Logan's Run, eh J.O.? Heh.

Hey Tessie, remember that a family that hates the Skankees together, stays together.

Hey Tessie, remember that a family that hates the Skankees together, stays together.

Two years ago, I and a group of friends were watching the Pats-Steelers AFC title game in a bar. The bar patrons' allegiances skewed roughly 85-15 in favor of the Pats.

As the game progressed and the Pats got farther and farther ahead, the small group of Steelers fans, which had been keeping up a steady stream of loud trash-talk the entire game, began to get on everyone's nerves. Eventually tempers flared, and it appeared that a fight was imminent.

At the crucial moment, however, a buddy of mine stood up on his chair and began chanting "YANKEES SUCK!" at the top of his lungs. Within seconds, the entire bar - Steeler fans included - was chanting along. When the chant died down, everybody had a good laugh, the tension was defused, and the fight was averted.

Further proof that hatred of the Yankees has unparalleled power bring people together. :)

Aaron, that is the most enchanting tale I've heard in a while. Bravo to your buddy. Good on ya', Mate!

"Logan's Run" Heh! Good one. I remember that movie...

Jason/Bob - On a whim I went to the IMDB on Logan's Run. God-a-Mighty! Their doing a remake that's due out next year. DiCaprio was originally supposed to star. And the early talk on the plot had the date for going "Red" down from 30 to 21.

What a hoot. Are there no new ideas in H-wood anymore?

What a hoot. Are there no new ideas in H-wood anymore?

The local (Kansas City, MO) paper ripped apart "Click" and had a sidebar where they listed (under the banner "'Click' - Haven't We Seen This Before?") all the other "freeze time to your own advantadge" plots in movies and TV episodes - they listed about 10. Of course, anything with Adam Sandler is going to yell "disposable film."

On a more serious note, The Globe is reporting Peter Gammons is in surgery for a brain aneurysm. Our prayers are with you, Gammo.

My animosity for the Mets dissipated for good a few years ago. I now find myself kind of following them, since several former Sox have migrated there (before Petey there was Cliff Floyd most notably, but also a few others) and the games are always on TV and radio here in CT. I still enjoy watching Pedro pitch, even if he's no longer with the Sox. Plus, Mets fans are so much easier to deal with than Spankees fans. And the Spankees are definitely something we can all agree on!!

I hope the Mets take the NL East (I am SO SICK OF THE BRAVES), and you know I'll be rooting for them to sweep the Subway Series this weekend!

Logan's run is up to 10. I love that baby!

Best wishes on a speedy recovery, Peter.

Yeah, Logan! Big test for you tonight, kid. I still fear thy power.

Logan's Run vs Petey's Return.

Unstoppable force vs Unmoveable object.

Let's get it on!

But why are you running, Logan!!??!?

Sandmen don't run!!!

Is Logan's middle name Ditka?

Wow. A-Fraud actually got a clutch hit.

In other news, pigs are seen flying, and geoligists report that hell has frozen over.

Does that mean we have to stop thinking of Slappy McBluelips as "clutchless"?

**thoughtful pause**

Nahh...

"Is Logan's middle name Ditka?"

LOL! :-D

RE: A-Rod - Even a blind squirrel....

Hi all this is Logan's Papi. Believe it or not this is scaring me to. I can't believe my son has never known a world where the sox lose. I wish we could all be as lucky as him. He's my little Lucky Charm. Hope he can keep it up. GO SOX!!!!! I'm a Logan-a-holic.

HELLO!!! This is Logan's astonished mother. He gave me so many problems during labor. The start of all this is my ob-gyn appt. on june 15th. i was told that i had preclampsia. the only way to cure that is to have the baby, so they induced me while i was only 37 weeks along. I was induced and things went well, until i stopped dialating. then i needed a c-section. Logan came out at 2:45 pm june 16th 5lbs 15 oz and 17 inches. A perfect specimen! When they cleaned him and handed Logan to his papi, i bawled. it was too much love to handle at once. He was as healthy as a horse, but me on the other hand... i was sent home on june 20th the 22nd i was back in the hospital, and almost had a seizure on the way to the hospital. i ended up having a bladder infection that was so bad, it got into my blood, so i had a blood infection... and on top of all that, i had a staph infection in my stomach. they finally cured me after what seemed like years. This is the sad, amazing, happy, intense, story that started KING LOGAN'S RUN.
