Some more than others
Whenever a player from "The Team" leaves, one feels a distinct melancholy and nostalgia, but with certain players, the feelings are more intense …
Voice from car radio:
After three years with the Red Sox, third baseman Bill Mueller signed $9.5 million, two-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers …
Doug thinking to himself:
Jeez, not only was Mueller a great hittah and third baseman and a critical paht of the Championship Team, but off hand I can't think of anothah playah who spent three seasons in Boston and nevah once made an asanine, controversial, or stupid comment to the media.
Doug thinking to himself:
I'm going to miss you much, Bill Mueller … Thanks and good luck …
Bill Meuller is a player that other players should look up to. Just came to the park everyday and played his ass off. Kept his mouth shut and let his play on the field speak volumes.
I will never forget the walkoff against Mariano in the Brawl game.
I will never forget one of the biggest hits in RS history against the same guy in the 2004 ALCS.
Not to mention Mueller was the only guy to hit grand slams from both sides of the plate in the same game.
Mueller - You will be missed.

Bill Mueller was a tribute to baseball - a dirt dog - almost like he belonged in the old game.
He's one of those players that just makes you realize why you love the game so much.
Thanks for the memories Billy

Back in the day, they would have called Mueller, 'a ballplayer's ballplayer'. I can't think of anything more appropriate.......

Besides the hitting, Bill really is a good infielder. When other parts of the infield have been less than dependable, Mueller is always coming up with those drives to third.
As much as I would like to have him back, he's going to be okay wherever he goes. Any team picking up Mueller is getting a deal.

But like all respectable Sox players, he leaves the team.
